Inver Grove Gas Site Conducting Drill with Xcel Safety, First Responders

A safety drill at the Wescott LNG facility in Inver Grove Heights will team Xcel Energy safety personnel with local first responders Saturday. Residents shouldn't be alarmed if they see police and fire racing to the site.

Xcel Energy, as part of its ongoing practice to ensure it is ready to handle security and safety issues as they arise, will be conducting a full-scale emergency drill at the Wescott LNG facility at 10326 South Robert Trail in Inver Grove Heights on Saturday morning, August 10.

According to Xcel's media relations representative Tom Hoen, the purpose for the drill is to maintain the strong relationship Xcel Energy has with local emergency responders.

The drill will also allow the company to demonstrate its notification process with external emergency agencies.

"This level of training and education for Xcel Energy employees is critical to help us remain prepared for an emergency that could affect the community." Hoen said.
